celebrating mr. and mrs. vance

my friend randy got married to a wonderful woman.  we went to his reception to celebrate with the many people who love randy.  i took a few pics but most of them were super bad.  this is what i salvaged.

ferry trip:  i gave these a retro feel.

my gal pals on the ferry after the picnic that shauna brought us.
reception:

these ones don't deserve to be big.

blurry babs.  she sat at a better table.  :)

first dance and daffodils.

you can see a little bit of the bride and groom through the flowers.

shauna.  ha. this picture is a result of me forcing shauna to hold up this cupcake and never being happy with the result (because of the low lighting which resulted in blurriness)  i'd instruct her "hold it up higher" in my bossy way.  then she said "my arm's not very strong"  and i said "it's not heavy!" after which she broke down in laughter and i never could get a straight pic of it.  but it's a good memory.  "i'm getting dizzy" she said through her laughter.  "from a cupcake??" i asked.  meanwhile edith howled and added to the merriment.

this is her saucy attempt with the cupcake.

meanwhile i camouflaged myself behind daffodils.

and nothing else turned out.  not even edith and her boquet which she caught, little hussy.  oh well.  it was a nice reception anyways.  very nice.

while fatima shopped i...

shopped for sunglasses.  but there were no good ones.  and then i wandered around the store for a while.  but it was soooooo busy and i had had my quota of noise and shoppers for a day.  so i said "i'll wait for you outside."  and she reasonably said, "ok."  enthralled yet?

once out side i stationed myself by this lamp post.  and promptly was bored.  so i took out my camera and amused myself.  and that is the major body of this work.  enjoy if you dare.

where i was:
1.
lamp post details. it reminded me of that building in new york city.  you know the one?
2.
some shoppers left the store.  but they weren't fatima.  no they were not my pal.  my pal was shopping and could not be deterred.
3.
you'll come to know the lamp post quite well.  from this angle you can also see the hm sign blurred above.
4.
my view one way.
5.
a heavy lidded me.  katie doesn't like the heavy lidded look but i say if you've got a heavy lid go with it.
6.
and here is where i started dipping into texture experimentation and having a marvelous time. (just like the von trapp children in their play clothes made from drapes).  note my hair has taken on a very calico cat appearance.  something needs to be done about it.
7.
i took a break from myself to photo my neighbour--the fire hydrant.  i was bored.  you can't judge a bored person for what they do.  you just offer them epathy because you've been bored before too.  haven't you?
8.
this texture effect is cool.  it makes it look like i'm in a painting or something, but i'm not!  i'm on a real life street taking real life pictures of myself while real life people crossing to and fro in the intersection looked at me like i was super weird. (blurry guy in white exhibit a)
9.
10.
this time i stuck my foot into the shot as if to say "hi!  it's me and the lamp post waiting outside on a dusky evening in seattle as my best friend shops her heart out inside"
11.
and that's when i started purposely leaving parts of my face out of the picture.  there's no explaining it.
12.
i know this one is particularly odd.  steve would have been freaked out by the peak of eye on the upper right hand corner. i like that i can share my eccentricities with the world wide web.
13.
somewhere in downtown seattle a curl framed itself against the busy street, took a deep breath and prepared for it's moment to shine.  the lips and they nose did nothing--they were the back drop and they knew they'd be a discoloured purplish red but the chin secretly wished it was actually a chin and not a continuation of the neck.
14.
i purposely did not look at anyone when i was leaning against the lamp post and lifting my camera far above my head as i could reach to get these next two shots.  when doing this sort of thing one must pretend that one is alone so that one does not get self-conscious of the silly things one does to amuse oneself while one's friend of all friends is buying apparel in a swedish clothing chain. (i had to look up how to spell apparel and let me tell you i was embarrassingly way off on that one, but let's face it--i'm appallingly unembarrassed about spelling errors).  anyways i like these two.
15.

16.

back to the lamp post, i photographed evidence that someone else had been there before me, if only to leave their peppermint gum.
17.

then i had nothing else in me for that location.  i had exhausted all avenues of amusement to be had through the camera.  so i broke my cardinal rule of united states cell phone usage.  i turned it on, thus incurring roaming charges (super lame rogers!) then i texted the one i call bud 'why are you still on the inside?'  and then i waited.  and then i texted 'if you don't hurry i'm going to get kidnapped!'.  and then she came out.

it had turned cold.  we walked back to the car but fatima had some bathroom business to do, so after some lengthy and unappreciated stops and some traffic lights we made our way haphazardly to the westin to use the facilities.

i call this 'fatima on the cold streets of seattle'  i know it's nothing but a brown blur but if you give it an artsy name it's more appreciated.
18.

and this is 'fatima wonders when the light will change and if she will die of hypothermia before it does in fact change'
19.

we took turns in the washroom.  it was warm inside and we liked that.  when i got out i found fatima staring fondly at this photo of her and d-man with their 3-d glasses on.  cute.
then we somehow found our way out of downtown and somehow i drove home without crashing although what i wanted to be doing was closing my eyes.  at one point fatima pinched me hard.  but that was on the way down.

this is the end of this story.

i stayed up too late once again.  i'm so ashamed.  :)

temple morn.

what am i doing up at this ungodly hour?  what am i doing up when i should be a slumber?  i'm editing photos that's what i'm doing.  i know it's the wrong thing to be doing at this time.  i'm doing it anyways.  isn't that just representative of the kinds of things i do?

anywho here's some pics of the temple, fats and i and the temple again.  i was there bright and early on saturday morn to pick up slavica.  it's beautiful isn't it?  i can't believe it's almost ready.

i made it look golden in this photo, but it isn't.  it's just what i did to it and i'm not sorry i did it.

we get a stone sign and everything.

this might be my favourite temple pic from this batch.  i like the tulips and the daffodils.  i like the crookedness.  i like the temple.

we had some initial trouble getting the temple in the background and on top of that, fats' head was floating free of her body...

this one makes my nose look pinocchio and other such unflattering things.  but you may note moroni in the  background.
finally we got the temple growing out of our heads like it aught.  so i made it look historic.  i like fat's face in this one.  sure it has no body. but look how cute it is.
one last shot before we go...

and there you go.  the temple!
