mini girl's weekend--nanaimo may 2010

girl's weekend was impromptu this year.  because of that it was small.  of the original sisters there was just me katie and sarah.  maybe that's why this year it seemed to me, to be more about the rising generation of girls in our family.  i enjoyed doing a girl's weekend for them--sisters and cousins.  we went to the grandfather tree at pipers for our devotional.  we sang hymns.  we each said our bits about womanhood and self worth.  it was special to me.  sloan and adriel were the non-girl guests at the devotional and kept sarah very busy in the grandfather tree.

it's a special thing for me to witness my sisters being mothers.  i don't know if they know how noble they are and how beautiful in that role.

(pics below--lesson for me in harsh sun shadows.)

i've lost a lot of weight since this pic.  holy moly.  of course it was these two sisters who helped me do it and did it with me.  sisters are like that.  they help you.  they support you.  they lay in the grass with you after having it out emotionally minutes before.

we went to coombs.

what a gorgeous rising generation we have.  so much potential in their fresh faces.

  3. There are so many gorgeous pictures I don't even know which ones are my faves. You take such poignant pictures of family, especially the ladies of the family (in my opinion).
I think my very favourite of the single portraits is the one of Natalie, close up from above. She looks so cute and sweet and beautiful, you totally captured her personality.

  4. Personally, I love all the stick your head by the tree ones! Especially the last one of Natalie. Love it. I also think the ones of Natalie and Michealah are cute, and the one where Elizabeth is holding a stick (her eyes look so icy blue!). Sarah and Katie and you look beautiful and radiant in all of them. I agree with what 'fub said. Poignant and beautiful.

  6. wow--you don't realize how much weight a person has lost until you see a before picture! Thanks for finally getting these up. My favorites are: the black and white one of nat in the tree, the colour one of mary at coombs (i love her eyes), looking at e through the reflection with the flower in her hair, mad and mic together with the blue flowers in their hair, and the first one with adriel in the tree. oh and i love the ones of nat at the tree.
