christmas time is family time

ok.  is it right that his eyelashes should be like this?  is it?  no it isn't.  but that's the way it is.

we caroled to sister ray walker at the hospital.  she is so sweet and cute.  i'll always remember how she didn't even know me, but sent me regular letters on my mission and when i got home she treated me like an old friend.  i'll also always remember her staccato piano playing in relief society.  anyways there was a lady in sister walker's room who was laying in her bed, swathed sloppily in a sheet.  her bed was in the upright position but her eyes were closed and her mouth gaped open.  i thought she was asleep.  we were kind of late and worried that we were bothering the old folks.  but she was the most appreciative. with her eyes still closed she praised us and thanked us.  an old man who we had passed in the hall wheeled his chair closer to the door so as to hear us.

on the way out we took this reflection photo in an ornament hanging from the ceiling.  mom walked amy, bethany, bowfen and i to the door helped us out into the cold and promptly  turned back, locking us out.  nice mom, nice.  :)

we took pics while we waited.  what better way to amuse ourselves?

i think owen's face here is funny.  he looks a lot like my baby sister.  now if he was giggling and running down the cul-de-sac as fast as his chubby body could carry him, he'd be a dead ringer.  :)

sarah straightened my hair and i didn't hate it.  no angry pumpkins!  no straw!  i don't know what's wrong with  bip and mip though... probably upset that sarah didn't do their hair.  too bad ladies!

i should have been afraid, but i wasn't.  mip particularly looks canabalistic here.

nope.  i'm just concerned about looking good.  and why not?!

bowfen is a marshmallow.

this pic of sarah preening is blurry but i enjoy the fiery colour of her hair, so it's in.

kyle enjoys a good christmas eve caroling venture.

katie and brent were with mom and dad on the inside so they didn't get their pics clicked.

here's adriel's favourite house.  every time we passed it, he wanted to go and ask the name of the person who lived there, so we decided to carol there.  some were against caroling to strangers but i was pro.  it turned out that we weren't the only ones.  the nice man told adriel that his name was mr. jones.

me and natalie and michealah sat on the floor together during the program.  adriel visited us off and on.

this is adriel on a treatsie high.  he doesn't know anything but that he needs to eat more sweets and he needs to do things like turn around and around in a circle, perhaps hopping on one foot.

speaking of sweets mip and bip really outdid themselves this year.  i was very impressed.

an unflattering candid couch shot.   sorry guys.  kyle looks like he has to go pee and so is hopping up and down and waving his arm.  that's what he looks like.  i'm just saying is all.  even perpetually cute elizabeth looks like she has a bit of a mullet at this angle.

christmas morn.  mip with some of her stocking loot.  is it just me, or does it seem impossible that her knees could stretch so wide apart?

bip with her stocking from her doting but absent hub.

adriel opening his stocking.

he got a view master...  i think his mouth looks very cartoonish in this pic.

sarah's new pajiji's with a well placed ruffle on the bottom.

sorry sarah, your head did not make the cut, but your well beloved christmas boots did, not to mention the christmas tightiloos.

sloan in his bunny/dog hat series:

so sarah and kyle and fam went on their christmas morning way, dad had left to take amy home to victoria and mom, bethany and i went to visit katie and brent.  on the way to the car, i basked in the rays and took some shots of me and one of my stocking treasures.

owen has to wear knee highs.

katie made this amazing headband for michealah.  it's so cute and so perfect.

dad joined us and wanted this shot with his grand daughter.

michealah got a uke and i helped wrap it.

i managed to get this shot of the ever elusive natalie with her dog and her cute chatter box shirt.

elizabeth was very stylish christmas morn.

something about this pic of adriel bugs me.  just gets under my skin the longer i look at it.  it  could be the vacant expression and it could be his tongue frozen in time.  even while bugging me, he's still a cutie cuterson.

adriel and his tools series:

after christmas dinner, dad, bethany, owen and i went on a little walk around the dykes' place.  owen is giving grampa this little half smile in this frozen moment in time.

fast forward to sloan's 1st birthday.  this picture showcases many things.  it showcases the yummy cake, kyle recording his son's experience, elizabeth and her pig tails and sloan's look of desire.

but here he is not looking at the cake he is looking at his mom and i love the look on his face.

and those are all the christmas shots i got.  the end.

  1. A fun and accurate description of Christmas! Thanks for sharing, it was nice to remember. Tons of cute ones of the babies...I dont' appreciate that my head is cut off, I look like a giant and my head probably would have redeemed the looming giant quality of that picture, but alas- the world may as well know- I'm a giant.

  3. sorry labee, but for some reason this post didn't show up as a new one on my dashboard! I know what it's like to wait and WAIT for a comment. after the first few, no one liked to comment on my songs, for example. but I digress. I love the pics! how dare you be so pert about the me-you-bethany waiting outside the hospital ones. so smug. I LOVE the one where you say that bowfen is a marshmallow. he looks unbearably cute in it. lots of good pics indeed! a well-documented christmas.
